Green theatre checklist

This project was initiated in 2024 by the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists, who worked collaboratively with a number of other veterinary organisations to develop the checklist.

The green theatre checklist is designed to support evidence-based, sustainable operating theatre practices in veterinary clinics, particularly small animal and equine.

The checklist is split into four sections:

1. preparing for surgery
2. using pharmaceuticals
3. duing surgery
4. after surgery.

Alongside the checklist is a compendium of evidence, which explores the evidence behind each item on the list.
